About Banksia Backyards

Banksia Backyards is a small business run with care by Jordan Simons.

Jordan trained and worked in financial accounting for seven years before making the switch to the world of horticulture. In early 2024, he began working for a local garden and lawn maintenance company based in Sydney's Upper North Shore. Later that year, while completing a Certificate III in Horticulture, Jordan started building his own business.

Jordan is passionate about cultivating green spaces that are both practical and beautiful. Whether keeping a hedge in line or wrangling a weedy garden bed, Jordan integrates his horticultural knowledge every step of the way.

Jordan is in the final semester of a Diploma in Landscape Design, bringing another dimension to Banksia Backyards. When designing, Jordan takes his clients' visions to the next level, creating inspired gardens tailored to any lifestyle. He works with the existing landscape, not against it.

Jordan is particularly fond of unique and native species that suit Australia's climate and support biodiversity — and look fantastic while doing it.

When he's not working, you can find Jordan training for ultramarathons, enjoying a soy flat white, hanging out with mates, or planning his wedding (Nov 2026)!
